Batemans Bay Bushwalkers Inc.

Fire Safety and Bushwalking - Summer 2009/2010

Because of the very serious risk of bushfires in our area this Summer, we strongly advise each of our walk leaders who have programmed walks in forest areas to contact the local office of the Rural Fire Service and find out the fire situation in the area of your walk, before deciding whether to proceed with the walk. This advice also applies to exploratory bushwalks.

Contact details for local Rural Fire Service depots:

Eurobodalla Shire - Paul Cook or Andrew Stark on 4472 2855

Shoalhaven City Shire - Tim Carroll on 4424 4424

Palerang Shire - Vlad Bohdan on 6297 1840

If a total fire ban is called on the day you are due to lead or explore a walk, please think seriously about cancelling your walk.
